Something to Forgive book

You Were Never Meant to LiveBound.

Maybe someone betrayed you. Maybe they abandoned you. Maybe they shattered your trust. Maybe the wound still follows you years later.

And maybe despite praying, trying, surviving, and moving forward… you still feel chained to the pain.

You are not weak.
You are not crazy.
And you are not alone.

Something to Forgive reveals the hidden spiritual, emotional, neurological, and physical impact unforgiveness has on our lives — and how God leads us into freedom.

Unforgiveness is like a spiritual tie which binds a person to the one they do not forgive and pulls them down.
No matter how hard they try to progress upward, it seems like a gravitational force pulls them downward to those who have sinned against them."

— Pastor PETER TAn, SPIRITUAL CHAINS CHAPTER

The Four Invisible Chains

Unforgiveness doesn't just affect your emotions—it touches every part of you. This book reveals how, and what you can do about it.

Spiritual chain

The Spiritual Chain

How unforgiveness keeps us spiritually tied to pain and separates us from God's best.

Emotional chain

The Emotional Chain

How betrayal and unresolved hurts keep us trapped in grief, anger, and overwhelm.

Neurological chain

The Neurological Chain

How repeated thoughts strengthen pain pathways and keep the past alive in the brain.

Physical chain

The Physical Chain

How stress, bitterness, and toxic emotions impact your body and steal your health.

Freedom begins when we break the chains we just can't see.

Kathleen Johnson

THIS BOOK WAS BORN FROM REAL PAIN

In the middle of an unwanted divorce and a betrayal that felt like a death, I found myself crumpled on the shower floor, unable to move—almost paralyzed by the pain.

That's when I heard God whisper, "You must forgive him."

And I answered, "I cannot. I will not."

But when I finally said, "God, I want better," He began revealing hidden truths about unforgiveness—truths rooted in Scripture, confirmed by neuroscience, and experienced in my own healing journey.

This book is the roadmap He gave me. Now I want to help you break free, too.

That moment—me on the shower floor—is one that is seared into my memory because it marks the moment where I lifted my fist toward heaven and essentially said,

No thanks to the forgiveness thing, God. It's too much to ask.

Because forgiveness felt impossible.
Unfair.
Even offensive.

Everything inside me recoiled.

But it also marks the pivot. Because God kept whispering.

And as He did, He slowly helped me realize this: I had come crashing into a crossroads—one that nearly every person on earth will likely arrive at at some point in life.

Bitter or Better.

And despite all the Christian clichés we hear surrounding forgiveness, I quickly realized this decision was far deeper and more serious than I had ever imagined.

As God continued whispering to my heart, He slowly began showing me that forgiveness was not some harsh spiritual demand meant to minimize my pain.

It was protection.

He began revealing WHY He speaks so strongly about forgiveness—not because He is indifferent to our wounds, but because He understands what unforgiveness quietly does to the human soul.

I let God lead me deeper into Scripture, emotional healing, neuroscience, physical health research, spiritual insight, and the testimonies of people who had truly found freedom after deep pain. And what I discovered changed my life forever.

I discovered that unforgiveness doesn't just hurt emotionally. It creates chains. Invisible ones.

Spiritual chains.
Emotional chains.
Neurological chains.
Even physical chains.

And perhaps even more importantly… I discovered what forgiveness is NOT.

It is NOT pretending evil was good.
It is NOT excusing abuse or betrayal.
It is NOT denying justice.
It is NOT handing trust back to unsafe people.
And it is NOT minimizing your pain.

Forgiveness is about freedom.

If you're hurting, exhausted, angry, numb, confused, or simply trying to survive what happened to you… I want you to know something: There is a path forward. A real one.

And my prayer is that the truths inside these pages will help you step out of the invisible chains of pain and into the freedom, healing, peace, and wholeness God always intended for you.

What began as one of the darkest moments of my life became the beginning of freedom.
